The acidity and low pH of the soil, together with good soil oxygenation and high carbohydrate content in the roots, promote the release and uptake of potassium. Potassium has a positive effect on photosynthesis and life processes, improves the efficiency of water use in the plant, increases active water uptake and reduces evaporation intensity.
The symptoms of potassium deficiency are less visible and are mainly manifested in reduced yields. The yellowing of leaves and the appearance of brown spots often appear later and are therefore more difficult to diagnose. Potassium deficiency can also be caused by excessive calcium or magnesium levels.
